The Rugia Bridge (“Rügenbrücke”) and the Rugia Causeway (“Rügendamm”) cross the two-miles-long Strelasund and connect the island with the mainland around Stralsund.
The Deutsche Bahn (German Railway) makes use of several long-distance trains to bring guests to Rügen. The train ride from Berlin/Hamburg takes a little less than 4,5 hours.
The closest international airports are Berlin and Hamburg – 320 km / 200 mi.
Rostock-Laage is the closest airport to Rügen, but with limited flight connections – 160 km / 99 mi.
