For over a hundred years, the narrow-gauge railway “Racing Roland” has been driving in the scenic south-east of the Rügen island. The train “races” steam-powered with a top speed of 18 mi/h connecting the former residence town of Putbus with the Baltic seaside resorts of Binz, Sellin, Baabe and Göhren. With a track length of 15 miles, the ”Racing Roland” needs a good hour and offers pure railway romanticism.
A little steam train along the coast
Those who travel to the last station in Göhren will be rewarded by the crispy fish rolls at the fish smokehouse located in close proximity. Watch over the shoulder of the smoke master at work and enjoy the homemade fish specialities only 100 meters from the beach.
